Lanzarote

Lanzarote is the most eastern Canary Island, stretched out by the west coast of Africa.

The black lava, rising from the sea and the white houses with blue windows form a beautiful view. Virtually of any place on the island you see the impressive coast of black lava, white beaches and the deep blue sea.

Lanzarote is an island of viewpoints, lava mountains, white and black beaches, cliffs, vulcano’s, vineyards, and typical mountain villages, hidden in the mountains, or fishing villages in a bay of the sea.

From the south, where our house is, to the north it about 1,5 hours by car. It is half an hour from the west- to the eastcoast.

We described many sights for you.

There are no high-rise buildings on the island. César Manrique, who was born and raised on the island, determined this.
It is possible to visit his house, that is build into the lavarock.

There are many walks on the island, well signposted and secure. We described many hikes for you.

The beaches are very diverse and all over the island. Near our house is a safe beach in a bay, ideal for children.
A little further on there are the coves of Papagayo Beach, also suitable for nudists.

The white Famara beach in the west is a surfer's paradise with high waves along style rising cliffs. These are only a few of the many beaches.

There are many restaurants with authentic spanish cuisine.
We have created a list for you with recommendations.

Would you rather go shopping? Perfume, cosmetics and shoes are cheaper than in northern europe.

With the ferry you reach the nearest Island in half an hour: Fuerteventura, where you arrive in Correlejo, a nice seaside resort with many charming shops.

You can also create a sailing trip.

There is a nice zoo about 20 minutes drive away with seal-parat- and bird of pray shows.
Also you can ride a camel or peddle a boat.

The medical facilities are fine.

Playa blanca

Lanzarote has 3 important seaside resorts:
Costa Tequise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca.

Playa Blanca extends along the southern tip of Lanzarote and is the newest resort with the best weather.
In the north of the island the weather is less pleasant in winter.

Playa Blanca is a quiet and charming village. Terraces, restaurants, shops, a market with local made artworks, pubs, a street musician, a beach right in the centre ....

Are you looking for a holiday to go wild in disco’s and entertainment, then Playa Blanca is not suitable, even though there are nice bars with live music and in the centre one or two disco’s.

There is live music in bars daily.

Playa Blanca is a place to relax, swim of surf, walk and to enjoy good food and nature.

Sightseeings

Lanzarote is a beautiful and diverse island.
The south and east side of the island features the white sand beaches where you enjoy swimming in the sea.
The beaches with the high waves for surfing are on the West side of Lanzarote.
There are big temperature differences on the island. It is much colder in the north than in the south. The difference in temperature is often 5 degrees.

Furthermore, the northern part gets more rain. The south point, south of Yaiza (where Playa Blanca is located) has the loveliest weather.
Lanzarote has beautiful mountains. The highest mountains are located in the North.
The capital of Arrecife is situated in the center-east of the island.

We have described many sightseeings places.
Maybe it is difficult to make choice out of the many possibilities.
That's why we recommend here our top 5 places :

Top-5 without children:

  1. Timanfaya
  2. Famara
  3. Haría and El mirador del río
  4. Papagayo
  5. Los hervidores and El Golfo with the green lake and the black beach.

Top-5 with children:

  1. Timanfaya
  2. Famara
  3. Papagayo
  4. Los hervidores and El Golfo with the green lake and the black beach.
  5. Fuerteventura, to stroll around in Corralejo and to make a city tour with a small sightseeing train

The village Playa Blanca

The Centre of Playa Blanca is comfortable with bars, shops and a beach. There are no high-store buildings. Here you will also find the port for the ferries to Fuerteventura.
It is very easy and safe to do the trips yourselves.
But if you prefer to join organized tours, some sightseeing tours start from Playa Blanca. If you are interested, then you can go to one of the travel information kiosks or at a travel agency in the village.

Marina Rubicón is located in the east of Playa Blanca. Here you can find a cozy harbour for private boats. On Sunday’s there is a weekly market with works of art and jewellery.
There are many restaurants in this area. The pizzeria is recommended. This pizzeria is not in the harbour, but diagonally opposite the perfumery Fundgrub and has a terrace in a beautiful garden.

Villa Phantasea is situated at the foot of Montaña roja (stonered mountain), on the west side of Playa Blanca, which is designed spaciously.

In the village there is one disco, opposite the Chinese restaurant, which is located next to the Spar. The disco opens late and only on weekends.
Often there is fireworks in the evening on the boulevard.
In the evening in the hotel NH10 is often some entertainement, like live music or shows with birds of prey. Even if you're not staying at the hotel you can go there for a drink.

Water-Parks

Paya Blanca has 2 water-parks. We don't know which one gives more fun, because we have not been there ourselves yet.

1. Agua lava is located on the way to the supermarket Spar.
   •  Please drive towards Spar. The water park is not to be missed.

2. Dino Park is located in the area of Los Riscos.
   • Drive in the direction of the village.
   • After you have passed the NH10 hotel, take the first road to the left. This is in the direction of Los Riscos, however this is not clearly signed. The sign of Jardines del Sol is easier to see.
   • Take the first street to the right and you drive directly towards the water park.

A further nice swimming pool is in the zoo in Puerto del Carmen.

The lighthouse (Faro Pechiguera)

You can easily walk to the lighthouse (see walks) or go by car.
At the lighthouse there are often beautiful waves.
• Leave Aguamarina to the right and make a full turn back at the roundabout.
• At the next roundabout turn left and then take the second street left.

Playa Papagayo

Playa Papagayo is located on the south-eastern part of the island and consists of several beautiful beaches in lovely bays.
You have to pay to enter the area of Playa Papagayo.
Select the beach you would like to go to.
On the most popular beach there is a small restaurant (snackbar) with a magnificent view. The food is not good however.
At Playa de las Mujeres you can walk also over a small piece of the lava stones where you reach a small beach and can stay sometimes on your own. If taking this passage is possible, depends on the flood. Beware that you are not been taken by surprise by the flood and can not go back.

Often you can swimm in the sea. This depends on the wind and the tides. When the wind comes from shore it is dangerous to swim, especially when it comes together with ebb.
This is not the case in Playa Blanca. There you can allways swimm in the sea.

• Drive to the village
• At the roundabout with the petrol station do not go to the right, but continue straight ahead.
• At the end of the road turn to the right.
• At the main road turn to the left.
• Here go straight up to a major roundabout where you turn to the right on a dirt road to Playa Papagayo.

El Golfo, the green lake and the black beach

El Golfo is a village on the West Coast. The village is not so special, but there are beautiful high waves (especially when it's windy) and there is a green lake and a black beach.
When you enter El Golfo there is a restaurant by the sea at the left hand side. The view is beautiful and the food is good, but expensive.

  • Drive to the village.
  • At the roundabout with the petrol station turn to the left to the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Take the exit El Golfo.
  • Shortly before you arrive at El Golfo the road turns to the right. Here you can drive staight forward to a beautiful black beach with a green lake. It is worth-while to go there!
  • From the parking lot in El Golfo a small path to the left goes uphill. From here you have a beautiful view on the sea, the green lake, the black beach and the rocks in the background.

Los Hervidores

Los Hervidores means the cooking pots. The black lava that has flowed into the sea, has formed a kind of cooking pots, in which waves swirl. You can walk through this area and it is worthwhile in any case to go to. It's especially nice when the wind blows hard.
There is no entrance fee. You will find Los Hervidores on the road to El Golfo.

  • Drive to the village.
  • At the roundabout with the petrol station turn to the left to the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Take the exit El Golfo.
  • At the left hand side of the road along the see you can find a parking lot for Los Hervidores.

Timanfaya (Fire-Mountains)

Timanfaya is still an active volcano area of Lanzarote. This attraction is absolutely recommendable and wonderful!
You have to pay for access and then drive in to the parking lot. There a bus takes you through the area as you are not alowed to drive yourselve through the area. The bus is included in the ticket.
After the bus ride you can enjoy the steam geysers, which arise when you throw water into a hole of the volcano.

In the restaurant you can eat chickenmeat, fried by the heat of the volcano. This is only possible for lunch, because the restaurant closes around 15:00.
This is also very nice for children!

On the way to Timanfaya you see camels on the left hand side. Here you can take a riding tour.

  • Drive to the village.
  • At the roundabout with the petrol station turn to the left to the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Drive to the main roudabout in Yaiza and choose for the direction to Timanfaya.

Arrecife

Arrecife is the capital of Lanzarote. There is nothing special to do shopping.  Actually, it is more fun to do shopping in Playa Blanca.
Please note that almost all shops close around 14: 00. There are also no special restaurants in Arrecife.

The tall hotel is an option to go to(the only high-building on all Lanzarote). Here you can have a drink in the restaurant on the top floor where you have nice views over Arecife. The hotel is located along the sea, you can see it from far away and it can not be missed.

  • Drive towards the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Go straight ahead on the highway to Arecife and do not take the exit for the airport.
  • Just before driving straight towards the centre, take the exit to the right. At the end turn left and then drive along the sea. You past the hotel and reach the parking lot on the right hand side.
In Arrecife the traffic situation changes often. If the situation has changed try to reach the tall hotel because the parking lot is located next to it.

Playa Quemada

Playa Quemada is a small fishing village on the south-east side of the island.
There are 2 nice restaurants, beautifully located at the sea side and where you can eat various fish meals , with a beautiful view. This is worthwhile visiting.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto) (see tour description).
  • Turn right at a roundabout where you see the sign to Playa Quemada. This road takes you down to Playa Quemada.

Puerto Calero

Puerto Calero is the most exclusiv village on the east side of the island.
There are many sailing boats in the harbour. You can enjoy some drink on the terraces, take something to eat (unfortunately expensive) and look around a bit.
There are clothing shops of luxury designer brands.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto) (see tour description).
  • Turn right at a roundabout where you see the sign to Puerto Calero.

Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is the largest seaside resort in Lanzarote.
There is a long straight sandy beach with a boulevard with shops and terraces.
There is also la Biosphera, an indoor shopping mall. Here it is better shopping than in Arrecife. La Biosphera is located at the large roundabout in Puerto del Carmen.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto) (see tour description).
  • Turn right at a roundabout where you see the sign to Puerto del Carmen.

The Zoo

Address: Calle Alcalde Cabrera Torres (without Number)

The zoo is named Rancho Texas and located on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen.
It is a nice zoo with a white tiger. Above all the shows are good. It's a show with seals and one with parrots. The bird of prey show is the best show!
There is also a beautiful swimming pool for children.
If you want you can swim with the seals, but that should be booked in advance.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Turn right at a roundabout where you will see the sign to Puerto del Carmen.
  • At the first roundabout turn left and than go about 2 km towards Rancho Texas, left from the large roundabout.

Costa Teguise

Costa Tequise is the most northern village of the three seaside resorts, also in the east of the island, not to be confused with Teguise, which is a small town in the mountains at a completely different place.
Costa Teguise is not very special in our opinion. The beach is small and the weather is often worse than in Playa Blanca. Costa Teguise has a good language institute where Spanish lessons are being given.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Keep always straight ahead on the highway.
  • The highway leads through a kind of industrial area (Playa Honda).
  • Somewhat later there is a petrol station DISA at the right hand side. There you turn left direction Circunvalation.
  • Keep on the right side, direction Puerto de los Mármoles.
  • Always go in the direction Puerto de los Mármoles until Costa Teguise is marked.

Teguise

Teguise is a beautiful authentic mountain village with a weekly market on Sunday. It's easy to combine with a trip to Famara.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Shortly after Yaiza you reach a roundabout. Follow here the direction to Geria.
  • Now you drive through vineyards with some wineries where you can taste wine and also eat tastefully, provided you are a lover of wine.
  • Follow the directions of Teguise (please note: not Costa Teguise).

Famara

Famara is an authentic village with sandy streets on the westside of the island. The large beach of Famara is beautiful!  The white sandy beach, the blue waves and the surrounding cliffs form a wonderful unity.
The sea is wild in Famara, suitable only for very good surfers or swimmers. Caution, the sea is treacherous.

Famara has a very good fish restaurant. You can see it directly on your right hand side, if you come on the sandy court. The restaurant has a terrace at the seaside.

  • Drive in the direction of the Airport (Aeropuerto).
  • Shortly after Yaiza you reach a roundabout. Follow the direction to Geria here.
  • Now you drive through vineyards with some wineries where you can taste wine and also often eat tastefully, provided you are a lover of wine.
  • Follow the directions of Teguise (please note: not Costa Teguise).
  • Just before you reach Teguise turn left towards Famara.

The house of César Manrique

Caesar Manrique was a well-known artist who has left his mark on Lanzarote. He has designed a lot of buildings, and we have to thank him that there are no multi storage buildings on the island.
He has built his house on a solidified lava stream which is now open to the public.
The tour of the house is highly recommended in most books. It's nice, but not so special as the books describe.

  • Drive from Arrecife to Tahiche.
  • In Tahiche turn to the left at the roundabout. Follw the marks. It is a bit difficult to find. De parking is recognizable by a large white sculpture.

Lagomar

Lagomar is a restaurant that has been designed by César Manrique. It is located in Nazareth, south of Tequise.
It is highly recommend in most books. The design is nice, but the food is expensive and not very special.

Guinate Fogelpark

This Park is located in the North of the island. It has been neglected and is only relevant to real bird lovers.

Jardin de cactus

This is a cactus garden in the north of the island. It is nice, but not very special, unless you are a cactuslover.

Haría

Haría is an authentic mountain village in the north of the island. You can stroll around nicely and take a drink in the square. Combine it with other tourist attractions in the north, because it is small village and you've seen it quickly.

There are 2 ways to reach Haría:

  1. From Teguise, after a winding road through the mountains for good drivers.
  2. From Arrecife.

2 Caves

You can visit 2 caves in the north of Lanzarote. They are close together, so that it is easy to combine both caves.
In the village of Punta Mujeres you can eat very well, but the restaurant opens late.

1. Jameos del Agua

This is a beautiful cave with a lake in which small crabs are swimming.

  • Drive from Arrecife to Tahiche.
  • Follow the signs Arietta.
  • Pass Punta Mujeres from Arietta along the coast, and follow the signs to los Jameos del Agua.

2. Cueva de los verdes

This is a cave system which is really beautifull. You will find also a nice surprise in there.
It is really worth to going there!
• Drive from Jameos del Agua back to the path and follow the sign for Cueva de los verdes. You both are close together.

Mirador del rio (The viewpoint in the north)

This viewpoint is located on the northern tip of the island. You have a beautiful view on the sea and the island of la Graciosa.
The building was designed by César Manrique. You can have a drink there.
You can reach this place via Teguise and Haría or via Arrecife, Tahiche and Arietta.

  • Drive from Haria to Ye.
  • Follow the signs Mirador del rio.

From the parking lot of the Mirador del Rio you have a beautiful drive way towards the south along the West Coast.

Orzola and La Graciosa

Orzola is the most northern village on the island. It is not very special, but it has a good fish restaurant near the Harbour and the ferry to La Graciosa from Orzola.
The crossing takes about a half hour to La Graciosa. La Graciosa is an authentic island with sandy paths and a beautiful beach.
If you have time it is definitely worth visiting la Graciosa.

There are 2 ferry companies. Take the one that fits best.
You will find the ferry timetable on the Internet. The ferry does not cross frequently, so it is recommended to view the timetable on internet.  It is easy to take an early boat, because you have to go back the same day.

You can also rent a bike. This is a pleasant way to explore the island.

* The most beautiful walk goes along the south coast. It starts from the place where you arrive with the ferry. Take the path there to the right along the sea. Walk along a beautiful path of lava!
After a while you reach a village, but there are no restaurants. On your way you have small bays.

* A beautiful beach is located on the west side of the island. This is very pure and authentic. You can either walk or bike to that beach.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is a beautiful island.
There are three companies that go from the port to Fuerteventura:

1. The cheapest way to make the crossing is by taking the small boat. The ticket kiosk is located in the Harbour on the way from the Boulevard (coming from Villa Phantasea) to the village.
(2) The fastest but also the most expensive crossing can be done with Fred Olsen.
(3) A big but not so fast ferry is Armas.

Most of the time you choose the ferry that has the most comfortable timetable for you.
Fred Olsen and Armas are located next to each other. If you walk towards the large ferries in the port then you cannot miss their desks for the ticket sale.

If you have one day available in Fuerteventura, there would be 2 possibilities:

  1. By ferry without car to Fuerteventura and leisurely stroll and eat in Corralejo:

Corralejo is a cosy town where can do many things.  There are other shops then in Playa Blanca. We recommend the shop selling Moreno glass. This is on the main street next to Zara.

  1. By ferry and without car to Fuerteventura, to rent a car there and drive to the beautiful bays:

If you already have a car on Lanzarote, you can do the crossing with the car, but this is very expensive. It is usually cheaper to rent another car on Fuerteventura in the port. It is advisable to rent a car in advance to avoid disappointment.

  • Drive from Corralejo towards Puerto del Rosario and follow the marks in Correlejo to La Oliva.
  • Take the exit to Lajares.
  • In Lajares follow the marks El Cotillo.
  • Drive through El Cotillo, heading east along the sea. You should do this kinda feeling. Keep always the sea on the left hand side. The trail becomes narrower and turns into a dirt road. You can choose either go straight ahead or turn right. You can try both ways, but the bays on the right hand side are gorgeous!

You can eat deliciously in the pizzeria in El Cotillo. This restaurant is located behind some multi-storage buildings in the village along the sea. The restaurant has a terrace with a beautiful sea view. Please note: it is not the pizza restaurant on the way from where you came when going to the beach.

Walks

There are many beautiful walking tours in Lanzarote with varying degrees of difficulty.

Be aware of the following walking rules:
Carry always enough water with you!
It is much warmer than you would think and this often requires much more water than you would expect!

Over the lava-boulevard to the lighthouse.

20 minutes walk.
Pleasant with children!
There are often beautiful waves at the lighthouse.
There are no restaurants on the way.

Leave Aguamarina and go to the right to the roundabout.
Walk over the red lava field to the sea.
There go to the right and walk over the lava boulevard with the sea at your left hand side to the lighthouse.

From Villa Phantasea along the coast and back again.

As far as you like.
Beautiful seaviews.
You walk through lava and lava plants. The trail is well-arranged.
There are no restaurants on the way.

By car to the starting point:
Leave Aguamarina, turn left.
At the roundabout go straight ahaed.
Park the car at the end of the road.
Walk along the boulevard with the sea at your left hand side.

On foot:
Walk from the villa to the boulevard and along the promenade in the direction of the lighthouse. You have the sea on the left side. Then pass the lighthouse and continue on the path that goes along the sea. After some time you can reach an incomplete empty building (hotel).

Montaña Roja in Playa Blanca

50 minutes (can be extended on top).
Beautiful views of Playa Blanca and the coast. Above you can find a crater.
Beautiful hike, you can do it well with little children.
There are no restaurants.

Drive towards the village. After passing the NH10 hotel, take the first junction to the left towards Los Riscos. This is not clearly marked. The sign of Jardines del Sol in the corner is easier to see.
Take the second road on the left and follow the road uphill. You can see already the path of the Red volcano. Follow the signpost to the vulcano.
You can park the car where possible and pass the electricity box where the path starts.
Above you can walk around or you can step down into the crater and write your name with the surounding stones.

From El Golfo along the coast and through the lava field back

2,5 hours.
Beautiful views along the coast. You walk through the lava and lava plants and you can climb over the lava stones.
El Golfo is situated on the westcoast of Lanzarote, a quarter of an hour by car from Playa Blanca.
During the hike there are no restaurants.

Park the car at the end of El Golfo. Take the walk on the path along the sea. After about an hour you come to a road. Follow this road to the right.
After a while you come to a barrier and later at a fork. Take the right path here.
Almost at the end you reach the road to El Golfo. Here turn right.

From Femés to Playa Quemada and back

1,5 hours to the village and 1 hour back.
Beautiful views on the mountains and the coast.
Femés is located up on the hill from Playa Blanca. It is 10 minutes drive away.
There is a good and not expensive restaurant in Femés. If you come from Playa Blanca the restaurant is located on the right side. You cannot pay there with a creditcard.
In Playa Quemada you can eat well in the two restaurants. It is quite expensive, but you have a beautiful sea view.

Park the car in Femés. Walk up the mountain behind the restaurant and follow the signs to Playa del Pozo. In other words, turn left at the first fork and right at the second fork.
When you come close to the sea, take the path upwards on the left side. Walk more or less along the coast over the cliffs to Playa Quemada.
If you want you can climb the first hill and walk on the other side down to Valle de Higuera.  By doing this you also reach the path to Playa Quemada.
Walk back the same way.

Option for the way back:
You can make the way back also in a different way. It is not advisable to do this way alone, because this way back is hard in the hot sun and takes about two and a half hours.
When you come close to the sea, take the path to the right and then the first road to the left, still the normal route. 10 meters after you turned left a wide, barely visible trail goes up the mountain. Follow this path. Now you go up to the top of the mountain. There, turn left on the path along the valley that leads you to Femés back over the saddle.

Around the mountain of Femés

More than 2 hours.
Femés is located up on the mountain above from Playa Blanca. It is about 10 minutes drive away from Playa Blanca.

If you feel that you have reached the end of the path and the path makes a sharp turn to the left, then turn to the right downhill in the direction of the sea and of the path, which you see on the right side below. If you do not take that path and follow the path (which is much easier) you would come probably also on that way.
Follow the path. When you reach a wider path turn to the right in the direction of Valle de Higuera and the saddle of Femés.

1 hour.
Femés is located up on the mountain above from Playa Blanca. It is about 10 minutes drive away from Playa Blanca.

Go on the narrow path to the left of the path that is closed with a rope.
Please note: you will come to a barely visible fork. Choose the right path, which slowly rises to the crest of the mountain. Follow this path, which finally will merge with the other path. After about half an hour from the start you will see the top of the mountain at the right side. A small barely visible path leads to the summit with great views. Take the path back that not leads over the ridge but over the saddle slightly lower.

Walk the same way back.

The mountain of Femés where the transmission towers are located

1,5 hours.
Beautiful views of Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and the coast.

Through the lava area of Timanfaya

You can hike here as long as you like. Pretty boring.
It is about 20 minutes drive to Timanfaya.
There are no restaurants during the hike.

Take the road to the entrance of the Timanfaya. Pass the entrance and take the first road to the left. Park the car when it becomes difficult to drive.
Continue the track by walking and return to the car. The track goes down a bit, but is easy walking. Occasionally, there are some small stones.

From Playa Quemada to Puerto Calero

45 Minutes (easy to do alone).
The drive takes about 15 minutes to Playa Quemada.
Playa Quemada is a small fishing village on the southeast side of the island.
There are 2 nice restaurants, beautifully located at the sea side with a beautiful view. You can eat there various delicious fish meals. This is worthwhile visiting.

Park the car in Playa Quemada.
Take the road that starts behind the houses at the left side in the direction of Puerto Calero.
You will have the sea on the right hand side. Then take the path along the coast. Follow this path as far as possible along the coast.

From Playa Quemada to Puerto del Carmen

2 hours (easy to do alone).
The drive takes about 15 minutes to Playa Quemada.
It is not easy to return to Playa Quemada. Best way is to walk back or to take a taxi.
There are 2 good restaurants in Playa Quemada, pretty pricey, but with great views.
In Puerto Calero you will find several restaurants, which are expensive and not very good, but we've not tried them all.
In Puerto del Carmen, there are many restaurants. We recommend the seafood tapas restaurant. This restaurant is located on the square of the old port at a corner. There, you can sit indoors or outdoors and order as much tapas you like.

In Playa Quemada walk the road that starts behind the houses at the left side in the direction of Puerto Calero. You will have the sea on the right hand side. Then take the path along the coast.
At the first hotel in Puerto Calero take the stairs down to a private beach. Now follow the boulevard. It ends at a gate. There follow the path along the coast.
Just before you reach Puerto del Carmen there is a way into the country side, but you can follow a narrow path downhill, along the Barranco del Quiquiere.

From Haría to Teguise

4 hours.
Very beautiful views from Ermita de la Nieve on Famara and the sea, the islands and the rocks. This walk is nor recommended when it's very hot. Less suitable for young children. The drive to Haria, a charming mountain village with restaurants on the square, takes about an hour.
During the walk there are no restaurants on the way.
However you can find many restaurants in Tequise. We recommend you to take a taxi to return to the car.

Park the car at the restaurant in Haría.
Go to the Town Hall (Ayuntamiento). In the corner of the square you find the trail sign to Tequise.
Follow this route.
After about 10 minutes you come to a fork junction. Here you take the right path.
After a while cross the street and go up to the summit of the mountain. You must cross the street a couple of times. Please take care while crossing.
Follow the signs to Teguise. On the way you come to a small chapel (Eremita de las Nieves) with stunning views over the sea.

From Famara up to the top of the maintain and back again

3 hours, 2 hours to the top and one hour back.
Beautiful views on Famara, the sea and the islands.
It is a strenuous hike. Only for experienced hikers.
The drive to Famara takes about 50 minutes.
In Famara is a very good fish restaurant. You can see it directly on your right hand side, if you come on a sandy square. The restaurant has a terrace on the sea side.
During the walk there are no restaurants.

When you arrive in Famara, do not turn to the left towards the village but turn right. Park the car next to the wall of the Urbanización of Famara.
Walk more or less to the direction of the left house of the 2 houses (brown lava stones) that you see laying on the hill.
From here follow the road to the top.

From Ye halfway to Famara and back again

4 hours, back and forth.
Beautiful views on Famara, the sea and the islands.
There is no shade on the road, so we do not recommend the hike when it's hot!
Take enough water with you. Only for experienced hikers.
There are restaurants in Haría. There are no restaurants in Ye or during the walk.

Drive from Haría to Ye. This about 5 quarters of an hour from Playa Blanca.
Turn to the left about 1 km before Ye. Take the first small lava stone path to the left and park the car in the parking lot.
Walk over the lava-stone path until you reach an electricity pole with a stone wall. Here the path leads down to the sea. Do not take this way, but before the electricity pole take the path on the left side. Follow this path. On your right hand side is the sea.
If you can choose from multiple paths, follow always the path towards the sea. If the path becomes very unclear after some time, go towards the sea and then along the sea on your right hand side.
After a few minutes the path becomes visible again. After going down you reach some houses with a bird garden at about 45 minutes after the start. Climb carefully from the wall. (Note: If you follow the hike in the other direction, you do not see where the path starts. Then start walking uphill at the telephone box . Soon you will see the path.)

Walk over the asphalt road to the left and after less than a minute, take the first sandpath on the right. Diagonally in front of you to the right, you see a mountain cliff on the right in the direction of the seaside.
Walk to the (was once white) dilapidated house, which is located at the foot of the mountain. Now start the climb. Walk up on the right side along the ruined wall on a hardly visible path. After a while the path is more visible. At the top of the mountain you can follow the path, which goes a bit down and is left from the ridge of the mountain. But it's nicer to walk more on the ridge of the mountain.
At some point you come by itself on the path again. The path is sometimes not quite clear, but you see the cairns, which indicate the route. Continue on the ridge along the sea. You see the track where the cars can drive on the left side. However, this is not disturbing and there is rarely a car. You will pass a place where cars can park. Continue to the end of the ridge, which can be reached after about 2 hours after the start. Here is a white triangular commemorative monument. In the distance you see Famara.
Go back the same way.

From Ye to Famara on the path along the mountain

6 Hours, back and forth.
Beautiful views of the cliffs, the sea and the islands (in some places the road has been washed away and it's hard).
There is no shade, so we do not recommend the walk when it's hot!
Take enough water. Only for experienced hikers.
There are restaurants in Haría. There are no restaurants in Ye, or during the walk.

Drive from Haría to ye. Is this about 5 quarters of an hour from Playa Blanca.
Turn to the left about 1 km before Ye. Take the first small lava stone path to the left and park the car in the parking lot.
Walk over the lava-stone path until you reach an electricity pole with a stone wall. Here the path leads down to the sea. When you haved reached the beach turn to the left.
Follow this path up to Famara. It goes only up slowly and then down again.

At the top of the mountain, you can follow the path, which goes a bit down and also located left from the ridge of the mountain. It's nicer to walk more on the ridge of the mountain.
At some point you come by itself on the path again. The path is sometimes not quite clear, but you see teh cairns, which indicate the route. Also here you continue again on the ridge along the sea. You see the track where the cars can drive on the left side. However, this is not disturbing and there is rarely a car. You will pass a place where cars can park. Pass a white triangular commemorative monument. In the distance you see Famara.
Walk on the cliffs up and down. After more than 2 hours, you reach the saddle of the mountain where a sand road for cars is situated with al lot of small stone walls. On the left, you can see Haría.
Go back the same way, about 1.5 hours.

Walking on the island La Craciosa

As long as you like.
La Graciosa is an authentic island with paths and a beautiful beach.

Take the car to Orzola, the northernmost village on the island.
There is a good fish restaurant located near the departure point of the ferry.
Take the ferry to La Graciosa. There are 2 ferry companies. Take the one that fits best.
You will find the ferry timetable on the Internet. The ferry does not cross frequently, so it is recommended to view the timetable on internet.  It is easy to take an early boat, because you have to go back the same day.
On La Graciosa there is a simple restaurant, where you can enjoy local dishes.
You can also rent a bike. This is a pleasant way to explore the island.
* The most beautiful walk goes along the south coast. It starts from the place where you
arrive with the ferry. Take the path there to the right along the sea. Walk along a beautiful
   path of lava!
After a while you reach a village, but there are no restaurants. On your way you have small
   bays.
* A beautiful beach is located on the west side of the island. This is very pure and authentic.
You can either walk or bike to that beach.
